Behind theGenGet The Weekly Cut

Kling Prompts That Creators Actually Used

Write Kling AI prompts like you are describing a video shot to a friend. Start with who is on screen, say the one thing they do, explain how the camera sees it, and finish with the place and lighting. If you want a multi-shot clip (several camera setups in one video), label each shot as Shot 1 and Shot 2, and keep your character looking the same by repeating their description or pinning a photo of them with Kling's Elements feature. Below are real prompts and the exact workflows creators used to make them.

26 workflows · 21 with a copyable prompt · Last updated 26 Oct 2026

How to write your first Kling AI prompt

Who is on screen → what they do → how the camera sees it → where they are and how it's lit

Start with the person and action before camera and lighting

Kling's own guides (text-to-video quickstart (opens in a new tab) and blog guide (opens in a new tab)) follow this exact order. First, name who or what is in the shot. Second, give them one clear action to do. Third, say how close the camera is and how it moves, then finish with the room or outdoor setting and the lighting. Creators on r/KlingAI_Videos (opens in a new tab) point out that cramming two or three actions into a single short clip usually makes the movement look messy. Give each action its own shot instead, like in this frozen subject crowd time-lapse in Kling 4.0.

Putting several shots in one video and keeping the same character

Number your shots to get camera cuts in one video

A multi-shot prompt tells Kling to make several camera setups in one video instead of a single continuous take. To do this in one text box, label each part Shot 1, Shot 2, or put [cut] where you want the camera angle to change (r/klingO1 multi-shot thread (opens in a new tab)). Give each numbered shot one camera angle and one action. You can see how this looks in practice in a seven-shot 2D anime evening in Hailuo H3 vs Kling 4.0 and a frozen-time school corridor fight from one Kling 4.0 Flash prompt.

Pin a character photo with @Element so their face and clothes don't change

If you just write "a woman in a red coat" in Shot 1 and "she walks outside" in Shot 2, Kling often invents a new person after the cut. Instead, use @Element tags, which are Kling's way to pin a photo of a person or object so the same face and outfit show up in every shot (you tag it like @Element in your prompt). Creators on r/HiggsfieldAI (opens in a new tab) and r/KlingAI_Videos (opens in a new tab) also copy and paste the exact same character description into every shot instead of using "he" or "she". You can also feed Kling a reference video of your character, like in this multi-shot sci-fi short film workflow with Kling 4K and video subject.

Turning still pictures into video

Start from a keyframe image, then only describe the movement

A keyframe is a still image that sets how the video should look before it moves. On r/KlingAI_Videos (opens in a new tab), creators recommend getting your character's face, clothes, and lighting right in a still image first, then uploading that image to Kling. Once Kling has the picture, your text prompt only needs to say how the person and camera move. You don't need to describe their outfit or the room all over again, as shown in this smartwatch fitness UGC ad starting from a keyframe in Kling 3.0.

Guide the start and end of a clip with first and last frames

First and last frames mean uploading both a start picture and an end picture so Kling fills in the motion between them. Use this when a clip needs to land on a specific final pose or product shot. Your prompt just describes how the subject gets from the first picture to the second, like in this luxury fashion ad from first and last frames in Kling 3.0.

Making characters talk on camera

Stick to one speaker at a time and name their expression

When you want a person to speak to the camera, state who is talking, the look on their face, and what their hands or head are doing so their mouth and body match the voice. You can see how Kling 2.6 handles speaking compared to other tools in the dialogue test comparing Seedance 1.5 Pro, Veo 3.1, and Kling 2.6. For a product ad example, check the mango passionfruit drink UGC talking-head ad with Kling AI MCP.

Featured workflows

Used for a smartwatch fitness UGC ad starting from a keyframe in Kling 3.0.

A hyper-realistic, gritty, but cinematic UGC-style shot at sunrise on a scenic coastal jogging trail. A fit male runner in his mid-20s, glistening with sweat (natural, realistic skin texture), is slightly out of breath, looking directly at the lens. His mouth is slightly open mid-sentence, showing effort but a determined smile.

His wrist is held up prominently near his face; he wears a sleek, modern, black smartwatch that is sharply in focus, displaying a bright screen with active fitness stats (heart rate spiking and pace). Natural, warm golden morning light backlights him, creating subtle lens flares. Shallow depth of field with the distant ocean and sunrise softly blurred. Handheld smartphone camera aesthetic.

[Shot1 ]
Ryan lies face-down on the ruined ground. Use an extreme ground-level close-up, with the focus locked on his arm and tactical glove. Small blue-white electrical arcs intermittently travel across the glove and forearm armor, briefly illuminating the equipment textures. The background remains softly blurred while dense smoke continuously rises into the sky.
[Shot2]
Hard cut to a tight close-up of Ryan’s head. His helmet, goggles and respirator mask dominate the frame. Ryan remains almost motionless, with only subtle breathing movement. Smoke slowly rises in the background, while the shallow depth of field creates a tense and oppressive atmosphere.
[Shot3]
Cut back to the original composition and camera angle of the first-frame image, re-establishing Ryan’s position within the ruined battlefield. The camera remains stable. Fine dust particles drift through the air while thick smoke continues to roll upward in the background.
[Shot4]
Ryan plants both hands against the ground and slowly lifts his upper body with heavy, strained movement, gradually transitioning from a face-down position into a one-knee kneeling pose. The camera slowly tracks backward and tilts slightly upward, creating enough space for his rising movement. Dense smoke continues to billow into the sky, while a few small blue flames flicker among the ruins. Maintain a cold blue-gray cinematic atmosphere.
[Shot5]
Ryan rises from a kneeling position as the camera transitions from a top-down angle to an eye-level view.
[Shot6]
Ryan slowly removes his tactical helmet, revealing his face and short dark hair. He looks dazed after the impact, breathing heavily and slightly losing balance. He blinks, gently shakes his head once to clear his dizziness, then slowly looks forward.
Cinematic medium close-up, slow push-in, subtle handheld movement. Cold blue-gray battlefield lighting, drifting smoke, ash and floating debris. Ultra-realistic AAA military sci-fi cinematic.
Keep Ryan’s face, hairstyle, armor and environment consistent. No glasses.
[Shot7]
Ryan picks up the gun from the ground as the surrounding stone fragments float in the air.
[Shot8]
After picking up the gun, Ryan removes the empty magazine attached to the weapon. The empty magazine drops to the ground, and he then takes a spare magazine from his waist and reloads it into the gun while smoke slowly drifts in the background.
[Shot9]
Ryan’s first-person POV through his tactical goggles. He walks forward as the camera slowly pushes ahead. White smoke rises on both sides of the path. Outside, a ruined city floats in midair, with broken buildings and debris suspended by an unknown force.
A holographic HUD overlays the goggles, showing a map and Ryan’s vital signs, including a beating heart-rate indicator.
Cinematic sci-fi atmosphere, cold blue-gray lighting, realistic HUD interface.
[Shot10]
The stone door opens automatically.
[Shot11]
A heavily armored special operations squad enters an ancient stone chamber from a dark doorway. The lead soldier walks slowly forward with his rifle raised, while four teammates follow behind in tactical formation.
Helmet-mounted searchlights sweep naturally with their head movements, cutting through dense blue-gray fog and illuminating stone walls, pillars and wet reflective floors. Smoke and dust drift through the light beams.
The camera starts at a low angle inside the chamber and slowly tracks backward as the squad advances. Smooth handheld cinematic movement, continuous single shot.
Cold blue-gray lighting, volumetric fog, wet stone surfaces, dark sci-fi exploration atmosphere. Ultra-realistic AAA military sci-fi game cinematic.
Keep the same characters, black tactical armor, helmets, rifles, squad formation and environment consistent with the reference image.
[Shot12]
Ryan moves cautiously from left to right through a dark alien-infested stone chamber, wearing matte-black tactical armor, a combat helmet with four-lens red night vision goggles, respirator mask and carrying a black-and-tan rifle in a ready position.
Ryan walks slowly with controlled tactical steps, subtly scanning the path ahead. His equipment and rifle move naturally with his body. He does not fire.
The camera performs a smooth lateral tracking shot, moving parallel with Ryan and keeping him centered in a low-angle full-body profile view. Foreground alien-covered walls create strong parallax and depth.
The chamber features wet black stone, biomechanical roots, alien pods embedded in the walls, drifting mist and floating dust particles. Cold blue-gray cinematic lighting, volumetric fog, wet reflections, dark sci-fi horror atmosphere.
Ultra-realistic AAA military sci-fi game cinematic. Keep Ryan’s face, armor, weapon, body proportions and environment consistent with the reference image.

Used for a seven-shot 2D anime evening sequence from one prompt comparing Hailuo H3 and Kling 4.0.

STYLE FIRST: a real Japanese TV anime, like a scene from a seasonal anime opening. Hand-drawn character animation on twos and threes, hand-inked lines that change weight, flat cel color with one hard-edged shadow tone, painted anime background art with soft brush texture. Anime compositing only: gentle backlight bloom, light leaks at sunset, depth-of-field blur on painted layers, rain drawn as thin streaks. No 3D, no CG, no glossy skin or hair, no AI polish. This applies to every shot.

CHARACTER: use @[image1] as the character design sheet and match its hand-drawn look. Keep her face, violet eyes, very long straight pink hair with blunt bangs, white cropped high-neck top with black collar, oversized off-shoulder white techwear jacket with orange panels, black harness belt with white hip pouch, orange baggy cargo pants, one orange fingerless glove, white and orange sneakers. Her face stays on-model in every shot.

MAIN GOAL: a 30-second calm slice-of-life showcase, no fighting. One evening in a Japanese city from golden hour to the first star. 7 shots, each about 4 seconds, each a different classic anime shot type with one slow camera move. Hard cuts. Let every shot breathe, no rushing. Her hair and jacket always move in the wind.

(0–4.5s) SHOT 1, extreme wide: a city rooftop at golden hour, she sits on the railing edge, skyline and long orange sky behind her, wind lifting her hair. Slow push-in from far away.
(4.5–8.5s) SHOT 2, extreme close-up of her violet eyes, the sunset reflected in them, a strand of pink hair crossing her face. Rack focus from the hair strand to her eyes, then she blinks once.
(8.5–13s) SHOT 3, inside a commuter train: she stands by the window holding a strap, orange sunlight strobing across her face through passing poles. The camera tracks sideways with the train.
(13–17s) SHOT 4, insert close-up: her gloved hand on the train window as the first raindrops hit the glass, city lights blurring behind. Slow push-in on the hand.
(17–21.5s) SHOT 5, medium wide at a rainy bus stop at dusk: she is large in frame under the shelter beside a glowing vending machine, rain falling past the streetlight. She shakes rain off her sleeve and looks down the street. Slow pan toward her.
(21.5–25.5s) SHOT 6, low side angle from the ground: her reflection in a puddle, her sneaker steps in and sends ripples. The camera tilts up from the side and stops on her face.
(25.5–30s) SHOT 7, the rain stops. Side profile: she slowly tilts her head back and looks up, her chin lifting, as the clouds part and the first star appears in a deep blue sky. Slow crane up from her face to the sky and hold on the single star until the end.

Sound: city ambience only, wind, train, rain, the rain fading to quiet in the last shot. No music, no voice, no text, no subtitles, no watermark, no other characters.

Used for a frozen-time school corridor fight generated from one Kling 4.0 Flash prompt.

In a telekinetic action scene, a 17-year-old South Korean high school boy wearing a white short-sleeved school shirt, a loosely fitted dark tie, and gray school trousers stands calmly in the middle of a corridor. He is being attacked from both sides; some attackers, wearing brown school uniform jackets, wield short sticks, while others are dressed as black ninjas, creating a tense standoff in the corridor. As the enemies rush towards him, the boy unleashes a powerful telekinetic attack. Suddenly, everything around him enters a state of weightlessness and time freezes. Dozens of items—open textbooks, notebooks, a red soda can, and a wooden school chair—leave the ground, perfectly suspended in mid-air. The attackers, caught in their lunging movements, are frozen in mid-air by an invisible force. Paper pages, scraps of paper, and dust float and swirl around him weightlessly. The camera slowly zooms in on the boy, perfectly freezing the chaotic corridor in the telekinetic-induced state of stillness and suspension. In the extreme stillness of the slowly zooming-in, frozen image, the boy's calm eyes narrow slightly. Immediately afterward, he calmly raises his right hand, his fingers loosely clenched, and then makes a light yet decisive flick of his sleeve to either side of his body. In an instant, frozen time and gravity seem to explode with this subtle gesture. A low rumble echoes in the air, and dozens of objects that had been suspended in mid-air—a heavy wooden school chair, scattered textbooks, and even the red soda can—transform into a dense projection, carrying powerful air currents, and are precisely launched towards the enemies attacking from both sides. At the same time, an invisible circular psychic shockwave violently spreads out from the boy. The brown-uniformed attackers and black-clad ninjas, who had been frozen in mid-air, are instantly struck by this immense force, their bodies jolted violently, and they are sent flying backward like kites with broken strings to either end of the corridor. As gravity instantly returns, the wooden chairs shatter upon impact, textbooks scatter into a flurry of pages, and with the dull thud of heavy objects hitting the ground, the attackers collapse onto the corridor floor, incapacitated. Silence returns to the corridor, broken only by countless tattered papers and fine dust drifting slowly in the air. The aftershocks of the shockwave ruffle the boy's bangs and black hair. He remains composed, not even glancing at his fallen opponents. The boy slowly lowers his right hand, raises his slender left hand, and gracefully and calmly tucks a strand of black hair behind his ear, revealing his sharp, youthful, and serene profile. The camera freezes on this moment, with white papers falling around him like snowflakes, highlighting his still figure in a white short-sleeved school shirt, dark tie, and gray school trousers. Then, the image slowly fades out.

MASTER PROMPT (paste first)

Format: 16:9, 30 seconds, 24fps, 1080p. Cinematic 90s anime film look, hand-painted backgrounds, warm golden sunlight, saturated blue sky with cumulus clouds, soft film grain, gentle lens flare.

Setting: A seaside sidewalk in the afternoon. A tall chain-link fence runs along the right side, with the ocean behind it, palm trees, and an orange-lined road on the left.

Characters (use the attached sheets as strict references):

Mei Aihara (@Image1): wavy purple-black hair, round glasses, pink hoop earrings, pink and blue oversized sweater, green high-waist pants, white-pink-blue sneakers, black spiral notebook with stickers. Shy and bubbly.
Yuki Kageyama (@Image2): long white double braids, black blazer, turtleneck, slim pants, boots. Calm, observant, protective.
Luca Moretti (@Image3): messy blonde hair with a faded undercut, star face tattoos, neck and sleeve tattoos, ear piercings, white tank top, black trousers, leather shoes, cigarette in hand.

Sound style: Anime audio. Exaggerated sparkle chimes, soft “doki-doki” heartbeats, cute kyahaha laughs, wind and wave ambience, light lo-fi guitar under the first half, and a low tense string drone from 19s.

TIMELINE

0:00–3:00 | Luca, profile close-up
Camera: tight side-profile close-up on Luca, fence in sharp focus beside him, deep-focus background.

Action: He leans on the fence with the cigarette in his lips. Smoke drifts up toward the sky. In the soft-focus background, Mei and Yuki walk small and distant down the sidewalk. At 2:00 his eyes slide toward them and the frame blurs as the focus pulls away.
Sound: waves, seagulls, soft inhale and exhale, faint lo-fi guitar.
3:00–7:00 | The girls chatting (medium two-shot, eye level)

Camera: Front-facing two-shot at the same angle as the reference, with the fence and ocean at right, as they walk toward the camera.
Action: Mei gestures excitedly with one hand, clutching her notebook to her chest. Yuki listens with a small smile.

Mei (excited): “Gojo Satoru is so handsome, I could kiss and marry him!”
At 5:00 both burst out laughing. Mei closes her eyes and laughs wide-mouthed (her “cheerful laugh” expression). Yuki covers her mouth and laughs with a quiet “pfft”, shoulders shaking.
Sound: kyahaha! giggles, a cute sparkle “ting” on the punchline, and bouncy footsteps.
7:00–10:00 | The collision
Camera: Low ground-level shot of Luca’s black leather shoe stepping into frame while Mei’s sneakers drift past, slightly out of focus. Cut to a wide shot at the fence with the ocean behind them: Luca walks left to right, Mei walks right to left, looking at her phone-free hands, and they bump.

Mei (voice-over, still rambling, cut off): “I have his wallpapers plastered all over my room—”
Her notebook and books fly out of her arms.

Sound: shoe clack, quick “whoosh”, soft thump, “Eh?!” gasp, books slapping the pavement.
10:00–12:00 | Kneeling to pick up
Camera: Wide high-angle shot looking down at both of them crouching, books scattered on the sidewalk. Luca bends low and Mei crouches beside him, flustered.
Mei (flustered, soft): “A-ah, sorry!”

Sound: fabric rustle, shy breathing.
12:00–16:00 | Hands and eyes (the key shot)

12:00: Extreme close-up on the blue book. Her hand and his tattooed hand land on it at the same time.
Sound: all ambient sound drops out, one soft heartbeat “doki.”
13:00: Low-angle close two-shot over the book. Mei on the left with sunlit hair and glasses, Luca on the right looking down at her. Their eyes meet slowly. Her cheeks flush.

14:00: Extreme close-up on Mei’s eye. The pupil dilates and the glasses reflect sky and sparkle highlights.
14:45: Extreme close-up on Luca’s eye with the pierced eyebrow, face tattoos and a slight softening in his stare.

15:30: Return to the two-shot, slow push-in. Her lips part slightly.
Luca (low, calm): “...Here.”
Sound: double heartbeat “doki-doki”, a sparkle chime, soft strings. (Luca’s line is my addition, since the reference has no dialogue here. Remove it if you want it silent.)
16:00–19:00 | Yuki calls, Mei snubs him
Camera: Wide shot from behind Yuki’s position. Yuki stands on the sidewalk on the left, waving. Mei and Luca are kneeling at center-right with the fence behind them.
Yuki (calling out): “Meimei!”
Mei jolts, grabs her notebook and stands up fast. She does not look at Luca. She turns her head away, bows slightly without a word, and hurries toward Yuki with her head down. Luca stays crouched and watches her go.
Sound: gasp, quick footsteps, a “pip-pip” panicked blip.

19:00–22:30 | Yuki’s warning
Camera: Medium shot, low angle, over Yuki’s shoulder. Yuki grabs Mei by the arm, and both glance back toward the fence. Sun flare glints off Mei’s glasses.

Yuki (hushed, serious): “Meimei, that guy is with the Mafia. Be careful!”
Sound: the tense string drone rises, and the ambience gets muffled.
22:30–26:00 | Luca stares
Camera: Over-the-shoulder shot from behind Mei and Yuki (their heads blurred in the foreground). Rack focus onto Luca, who is now standing, hands at his sides, staring after them. A new cigarette smoulders and smoke drifts across the sky.

Sound: wind, a single low taiko or bass hit.
26:00–30:00 | Final beat

26:00: Close-up on Mei’s profile as she looks back over her shoulder. Their eyes meet one more time across the distance. She blushes and snaps her head away (the snub).
28:00: Cut to Luca. A slow, small smirk. He looks down at his tattooed hand that touched hers, then back at her fading figure.
29:00: Final wide shot. The fence, the ocean, smoke curling up, the two girls walking away small in the distance. Fade out.

Sound: a last “doki” heartbeat, a sparkle chime, then the music fades into waves.

Used for a crowd time-lapse around a frozen subject in Kling 4.0 on Higgsfield.

Create a hyper-realistic cinematic time-lapse featuring the woman as the central subject, standing completely motionless in her original pose.

Keep her face, hairstyle, clothing, body position, and facial expression perfectly unchanged throughout the entire video, as if she is frozen in time.

Animate only the surrounding environment, with crowds walking rapidly in different directions, people passing behind and in front of her, and vehicles moving quickly through the background.

Gradually increase the speed of the surrounding activity, creating dramatic time-lapse motion with realistic directional blur and flowing movement trails.

Allow natural shadows, sunlight, and background activity to shift subtly, emphasizing the passage of time while the woman remains perfectly still and sharply focused.

Maintain realistic depth, natural movement, consistent scene geometry, and strong contrast between the frozen subject and the fast-moving environment.

The camera must remain completely fixed on a tripod, with no panning, tilting, zooming, or camera shake.

Toward the end, gradually return the surrounding movement to normal speed while the woman remains frozen in precisely the same position.

Negative prompt: Subject movement, blinking, facial changes, body deformation, identity drift, camera movement, flickering, background warping, unnatural motion blur, duplicated limbs, text, logos, watermark.

Main subject: A hauntingly beautiful Eastern woman in a tattered crimson wedding gown and red veil, her silver hair disheveled. The background is the ruins of a collapsed ancient Chinese building, under a grey sky with light rain falling.
Story storyboard (0–15 seconds):
0–5s — Close-up and struggle: Camera slowly pushes in on the woman's face in close-up. Her eyes are unfocused, tears mixing with rain as they slide down her cheeks, yet an eerie smile plays at the corner of her mouth — her expression twisting between anguish and madness.
5–10s — Stumbling and shattering: Camera follows her footsteps as she staggers unsteadily through the ruins, the hem of her wedding gown sweeping over rubble and dead branches with a soft rustling sound.
10–15s — Despair and descent: Wide-angle shot pulls back as she collapses into a sitting position amid the ruins, the red veil slipping off to reveal her pale face. She tilts her head back toward the grey sky, her laughter fading as tears continue to fall.
Style and atmosphere: Cinematic quality, dark gothic style, high contrast, striking red-and-black visual impact, oppressive, despairing, surrealist, 8K resolution, exquisite detail.
Negative: Low quality, stutter, face/body collapse, over-bright, excessive gore, stiff motion, watermark, T-pose, bright palette, flashy VFX, rigid camera, lack of speed/blur, weak kills.

Faceless channels

The same man from the reference stands on a plain light-grey studio background and slowly turns 360 degrees in place, clockwise, at a steady speed: front, side, back, side, front.
The person rotates, the camera does not move.
Full body in frame, arms relaxed, neutral expression, feet stay on the same spot.
Soft even studio light. Same face, hair, outfit and proportions in every frame.

FAQ

What is the basic formula for a Kling prompt?

Start with the person or object, give them one clear action, say how close the camera is and how it moves, and finish with the setting and lighting. Kling's guides and Reddit creators both give the same advice: stick to one action per shot so the video doesn't get messy. How do you write a multi-shot prompt in Kling?

To put several camera setups in one video, break your text into Shot 1, Shot 2, or add [cut] where you want the camera to switch, or turn on Kling's multi-shot mode. In every shot, repeat your character's description or tag their photo with @Element so Kling keeps the same person on screen after each cut. How do Elements work in Kling 3.0 prompts?

In Kling 3.0, you upload a picture of a character, prop, or place as an Element, then type @Element in your prompt whenever that person or item appears. This tells Kling to use the same face, outfit, or object across every shot without making you re-describe how they look each time. Source 1 (opens in a new tab) · Source 2 (opens in a new tab)

How do you get consistent results in Kling?

Creators on r/KlingAI_Videos suggest making or picking a good still picture first before generating video. Because that starting keyframe already shows the character's face, clothes, and lighting, your video prompt only needs to explain how the person and camera move. Should I use text-to-video or image-to-video in Kling?

Text-to-video is great when you don't have a starting picture and just want to test an idea using the basic who-action-camera-lighting order. When you need an exact product, a consistent character face, or a specific ending pose, start from a still keyframe image or upload both a start picture and an end picture (first and last frames). How do you keep a character consistent across multiple scenes in Kling?

Don't switch to words like "he", "she", or "the man" in Shot 2. Copy and paste the same short description into every numbered shot, and combine it with an @Element photo tag or a video reference of your character so Kling knows it is the same person.
