Privacy, in plain English
We keep as little as we can.
The newsletter
If you sign up, we store your email address and, if you pick any, what kind of video you make. We use them only to send The Weekly Cut. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing stops all emails.
Your email is held by Kit, the service that sends the newsletter, and our database runs on Supabase. They store it for us and can’t use it for anything else.
Submissions and sponsor enquiries
If you send us a workflow or a sponsor enquiry, we keep what you typed so we can review it and reply. An email address on a submission is only used to tell you when it’s live.
Counting visits
To see whether people come back, your browser stores a random ID with no link to you, and we count it once a day. We also use Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies. We don’t store IP addresses ourselves.
What we never do
- Sell or share your details.
- Use advertising trackers.
- Load a video provider’s player before you press play.
Questions or deletion
Email hello@behindthegen.com and we’ll tell you what we hold or delete it.
